Library Systems & Technology Administrator and Interim Head of Access & User Services

  • In addition to the responsibilities of the Library Systems and Technology Administrator role.
  • Responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the Access and User Services department with oversight of circulation services, print and digital reserves, interlibrary loan, public-facing technologies, building use, and security. Supervise 5 FTE staff and approximately 60 student-staff (12 FTE).
  • Lead projects that align with the Access and User Services department and Swarthmore College Libraries’ goals. Initiate, plan, and manage core aspects of projects, ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely fashion, within budget, and in accordance with the parameters of the project.
  • In coordination with the branch libraries and consortia colleagues at Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges, align practices and policies that enhance access to the libraries. Collaborate with Disabilities Services, the Dean’s Office, ITS, and other student affairs services to implement coordinated approaches in supporting and promoting excellence in student learning.
  • A member of the Libraries’ leadership team, responsible for aiding in strategic planning, priority setting, and decision-making. Provide leadership for all public-facing library services, ensuring that both regular and student staff provide the highest quality information services to library patrons.
  • Implements policies regarding selection, maintenance, and support of specialized public equipment including desktop computers, laptop computers, tablets, microform hardware, scanners, copiers, video equipment, and library systems.

Library Systems and Technology Administrator

  • Facilitates the ongoing development and support for the library services platform, ExLibris Alma and Primo VE by working collaboratively with TriCollege library colleagues, Ex Libris, and ITS partners across the consortium. Create and implement new technologies that assist the library in reaching its goals. Responsible for providing mentorship to ITS associates in the libraries, as well as providing training to public services staff as technology and platforms evolve.
  • Working with the digital scholarship librarian maintains and improves workflows for launching, sustaining, and sunsetting digital projects using best practices. Assists in the migration, server administration, security, web design, and accessibility of web-based projects.
  • As a liaison for Information Technology Services, communicate with ITS and library staff on issues related to the public computing environment. Provide all technical support for public computing in libraries, including desktops, mobile devices, printing, scanning, multimedia, and microfilm equipment. Responsible for installing and configuring software and hardware, and troubleshooting issues while participating in user-facing testing of new ITS services.

ITS Asset Replacement Cycle

Assist in the coordination of the yearly replacement of systems for the public computing environment of the Swarthmore College Libraries and staff systems. Survey users, provide system recommendations, and coordinate data transfer.

Caiasoft

Lead the coordinated effort between Caiasoft, the Tri-College Consortium, and the University of Pennsylvania's Research Annex (LIBRA) to develop the necessary workflows and configure integrations that allow the communication between Caiasoft and Alma systems.

ReShare

Lead the implementation of ReShare, the successor of the E-ZBorrow lending systems in coordination with the Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation (PALCI) and the Tri-College libraries.

25 Live

In collaboration with the Events Office, assisted in the implementation of 25 Live for use in the libraries as event management software for faculty and staff and express room booking software for students.

CLIO ILL

Worked directly with Swarthmore stakeholders, Ex Libris, and Tri-College colleagues in configuring CLIO and integrating the application with the Ex Libris Alma platform.

Joan Integrationn

Working in collaboration with ITS, Collegenet, and Joan, integrate the Joan paperwhite displays in McCabe Library with Collegenet’s 25live event management software.

Ex Libris Alma and Primo VE Implementation

Working as the fulfillment functional lead, configured Alma user registration and management, circulation policies, and calendars. Lead data migration for fulfillment-related records. Lead or assist in configurations and discussions for user roles management, anonymization, work orders, training, LIBRA offsite storage, campus configurations, notices, CLIO integration, relais integration, and analytics. Currently acting as Application Administrator, Coordinator of Super Users, and integration support for Swarthmore College.

Sensource Traffic Monitoring System

Working with ITS and the Vendor implemented a patron traffic system and compiled weekly, monthly, and yearly reports. In early 2018 the hardware components began to fail. Working with ITS, the vendor, and our electrical contractor, we replaced the dated system and implemented our new cloud-based traffic monitoring system, and successfully migrated traffic data from the old system.
